This launches Fireworks (if it is not already open)
and exports the table. Now I can make any changes I want to the
table. I can rearrange the images, alter text, change the slices
and more. I then click 'Done' and the table is exported right
back into Dreamweaver with the changes made.
Fireworks only exports those html elements and
image slice files that are needed to update the table.
Tutorial 2: Optimize/Resize
Fireworks images inside Dreamweaver
Most designers at one time or another have designed a Web page or been given
the job of updating someone else's Web page and discovered it takes too long
to download to a visitor's browser. One way to speed up downloads is to optimize
the graphics.
Select the image you want to optimize and go -
Commands - Optimize Image in Fireworks. This launches the Fireworks
Optimization window not the Fireworks program. Now you can test
various optimizing solutions. When you are finished click - Update.
If you change the format of the image (i.e. .gif to jpeg) Dreamweaver
will prompt you to update all references to the image. Clicking
OK will change these references in the site.
By clicking the - File - tab in the - Optimize
Window - you can also resize any graphic. You have the ability
to not only rescale the image but also set the export or crop
area of the image. This can be done by dragging the border or
entering specific pixel coordinates in the four text fields.

You can also make edits to Fireworks animations
in the same window. Click the - Animation - tab. Now click any
frame in the animation, make your edit and click - Update.
Macromedia has made a major effort to streamline
the Web design process with their Dreamweaver/Fireworks 4.0 tag
team and it pays off big time. Make the effort to take advantage
of this creative firepower. Remember, time is money.
