You've seen the commercial where a guy impresses
his date with a wall of pictures of himself meeting famous people
like Marilyn Monroe and the Pope. Well this tutorial is for all
those guys out there who want to impress their girlfriends about
scaling K2, cruising up the Nile or shaking hands with a Zeta
Reticuli alien from the Zeta Reticulan star system.
In Photoshop, compositing one image over another
seamlessly is relatively easy and fast if you use one of the
plug-ins currently available. Extensis sells a great plug-in
called 'Mask Pro' ($199). But the power is there within Photoshop
to create complex composites like the one below.

Mixing and Masking
For this tutorial I decided to composite a picture of my girlfriend and a picture
of Maxim's restaurant in Paris. Okay, she's not my girlfriend either. She's
my wife. Okay, that's a lie too. I found her on a clip art CD. If anyone
out there has her phone number you can e-mail me at ... just, forget it.
As you can see from the image of the woman she is on a faded yellow background,
she has blonde hair and there are lots of stray hair. Creating a mask from
this image will not be easy.
